Hot Springs County High School is a school driven to inspire youth that has produced two teams motivated to build a robot that will take on the world in the Velocity Vortex challenge. The first team, #4273 Aluminati, coached by Mr. Jenks, is made up of mostly Sophomores and Freshman such as Lane Randall, Joshua Canfield, Ben Manning, Aaron Hanson, Jaxon Davis, Sarina Guyon, Jazmyne Whipps, Kain Randall, Deanna Owing, Krynn McGinty,  and Caleb Kessler. The Aluminati Team Captain is Senior Kole Cox, and he is actively seeking ways to improve his team and robot. Joshua Canfield said, “I think we have a pretty good chance at regionals.” and the scores are proof as Aluminati ends up scoring 15th place in their last tournament in Bozeman, Montana.

The second team #7283 Fist Full of Axles is coached by Mr. Hamer the Online Instructor and is made up mostly made up of Juniors such as Kylar Laboy, Clayton Mckie, Wyatt Wright, Eric Range, Wrylee Barnett, Clemens Abbot, Senior Keegan Robbins, and Freshman Ian Harbin. Fist Full of Axles’ Team Captain is Junior Chris Slagle who has been in robotics for three years and through his years of experience has come to have a unique outlook on how to build a robot. His unique experience and look at things has gotten the Fist Full of Axles through many different crises and has pulled them through all the way to Bozeman, Montana where they ended up scoring 19th place.
Both teams are aiming high and getting ready to do whatever it takes to go to regionals. Both teams are going to the Wyoming State Championship in Casper on February 17th and 18th. No challenge will stand long while these teams are on the prowl.
